What do 2x and x2 mean on a Rust server?

They mean double gather: resources from nodes, trees and barrels are twice what you would get on vanilla. It does not change crafting costs, stack limits or damage on its own — those are separate mods. Any server that alters gather rates must list itself as modded. If a server gives double but does not put 2x in its name, it may still show here if the mod list or description states the rate, but the table only reads the name, so it can be missed.

Does 2x mean the server wipes more often?

Not necessarily. The wipe schedule is set by the server owner, and a 2x rate does not force a weekly or monthly cycle. What every server does share is the monthly force wipe on the first Thursday, when Facepunch updates the game and all servers reset. Outside that, look at the Next wipe column for this server's own countdown. Some 2x servers run weekly, others monthly, and the table shows the exact time when the owner publishes it.

How do I know if a 2x server is right for my group size?

Check the Group column in the table: it shows the server's team or clan limit, or is blank if there is no limit. A blank entry often means large groups are allowed, which changes the feel of the wipe. If you play solo or in a duo, search the name for "solo" or "duo" or use the full browser filters for group size. The rate itself does not tell you this, so it is worth checking before you join and commit to a base.
