What does the tutorial tag on a Rust server mean?

It means Facepunch's new-player tutorial is switched on. You start on a private island and learn gathering, crafting, building and cooking before joining the main map. The server keeps its normal rates, group limit and rules once you are through.

Are tutorial servers good for a first wipe?

They remove the first hour of risk, because nobody can kill you on the tutorial island. After that you are on the same map as everyone else. Check the Group and Next wipe columns before you commit, and use the beginner list if you want gentler settings.

Do tutorial servers wipe on the same schedule as others?

They follow their own schedule, not a shared one, so check the Next wipe column on each row. Most run monthly cycles, with fewer on weekly or biweekly. The tutorial resets with the map, and blueprints reset only if that server chooses to.

Can I join a tutorial server with friends?

Yes, once the tutorial island is done. The tutorial itself is solo. Group limits vary, so read that column before you pick; some servers set solo, duo or trio, while others leave Rust's default of 8.
